I thought I spied a sailor from my window,
All dressed in darkest black from head to toe.
I thought I heard him calling me to follow,
But follow him to where? I did not know.

I grabbed my cloak and ran out through the shadows.
He took my hand, said "Lady, come with me,"
But in his eyes was something dark and hollow.
Still I let him take me with him,  off to sea.

We sailed across the seas to far off places.
We slept beneath the stars and shared our dreams.
But the darkness in his eyes had left its traces,
And one night he sailed away and set me free.

I thought I spied a sailor from my window,
All dressed in darkest black from head to toe.
But when I heard him call for me to follow,
With sadness in my heart, I answered "no".
